My first draft of my fronts cover
After looking at my magazine i thought there had to be many changes. I decided to change the colour scheme from red to blue. I chose blue instead of red because it relates with what the model is wearing

TASK 4
Magazine evaluation
Task outline
My task was to create a student magazine as part of the
portfolio assessment. This involved creating a front cover and contents page.
Before starting I sketched a rough idea on paper so I could get different
opinions from my peers. Once I had agreed on which template to use I went
around the school to take different pictures which I could use for my front
cover and contents page. Gathering images for my contents page wasn’t very hard
because it was pretty much taking normal pictures, however for my front cover I
needed medium close up of a student. My
front cover had information about a student who achieved a grades so I decided
to use my friend for a medium close up. I went on to produce the front cover
using Photoshop and the contents page with InDesign. My magazine name was Leyton life. I chose
this name because the image of the student shows the life of a student at the
college Leyton.
What went well?
Photography wasn’t a problem. I easily managed to get my
medium close up of a student and my contents page pictures. I managed to gather
all my photos within 30 minutes.
What I need to improve on?
This was the first time I used InDesign and Photoshop so it
took a lot of time for me to adjust to the settings. Time played a key factor
in this task as I found it very hard to keep up with deadlines. I think I need to improve my skills of using
both software’s and also keep up with time.
When receiving audience feedback it allowed me to gather the
positives and negatives and see exactly where I went wrong. I found this very
beneficial because I now know what to do when creating my actual magazine. My
audience feedback was completed by my classmates. Some comments contrasted
because one said ‘The
colour of your front cover isn't appealing, it seems too artificial’ and another said ‘i like the colour scheme
and the layout on the front cover’. I agreed with the second comment because I
think the colour wasn’t very appropriate. Also I was told that my contents page
was complete but the layout was very good
